Schools and Related Sites Grant Program



The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has given approval to grants for 73 projects for the Schools and Related Sites Grant Program, totaling more than $4.7 million. Projects include HVAC replacement filters, stand-alone filter systems, window and door replacement, and landscaping projects.

Status Update
Grant recipients were notified of grant awards in Septemb
er 2010. We anticipate starting to send all contracts to grant recipients by mid-April 2011. However, if your project is time-sensitive or requires a more accelerated time schedule, please let us know by sending an e-mail to
grants@polb.com or calling us at 888-789-GRANT.

About the Program

Under the Schools and Related Sites grant program, the beneficiaries range from preschool to high school. Projects eligible for funding at schools include:
  • Air pollution impact reduction projects, such as schoolroom filtration systems or pollution-reduction equipment for school buses
  • Noise reduction projects, such as double-paned windows and sound barriers
